About a year ago my wife and I took the plunge and purchased the local newspaper in our area. Financially, it was a great buy. Actually, in every way it was a great buy. We have yet to find a downside. Annoyances to be sure, but overall a largely positive experience. We work together out of our home with our two boys and we get to learn about so many people in our community that we would not otherwise have spoken with. And it's making money. Not a ton - we're not going to be the next Rupert Murdoch or anything but it is feeding us at the moment.
However, the newspaper does not have a website to speak of. I threw one together in Webflow (very quickly) and I have it hosted on Netlify for free.
I want to build a functioning news website for our paper that has all the features you would expect a 'legitimate' newspaper website to have.
-account and subscription management
-gated & ungated content
-Content submissions to the paper
-letters to the editor
-management of ads
-online and in print
What I am looking for are no-code tools to run and host the website and minimize additional workload. (I realize that updating a website weekly will add work, that's why I said 'minimize') Ideally after we set the print paper, we upload the same content to our website and hit 'publish'.
My question to this community is what no code tools would you use if you were in my shoes? I am proficient with Webflow - not an 'expert' but very comfortable with it. I am not a developer but I'm pretty sure I can figure out most of these no-code tools.
Thoughts, ideas and suggestions are much appreciated!
