There's an experience of power, beauty, and magic at the heart of software development. That's why programmers fall in love with it. Unfortunately, that experience is wrapped in an enigma.
In late 2018, Jason, Mark, Antonio, and I looked into previous efforts to unwrap the enigma and make software development accessible to everyone, but none grabbed us. We wanted something that would captivate us—or anyone—with the same sense of power, beauty, and magic.
In 2019, we began building Glide. For power, we chose the most popular programming tool of all time: spreadsheets. For beauty, we added an easy-to-use design layer that transforms spreadsheet data into beautiful, interactive apps. For magic, we used real magic 😉
In 2020, the world changed and Glide exploded. We saw hundreds of thousands of people around the world, without coding skills, build apps for their businesses, communities, families, and sometimes just for fun.
Last year, Glide went to work. From small businesses managing inventory, to Fortune 500 companies coordinating distribution, to the PGA running international golf tournaments, we watched Glide pair perfectly with existing spreadsheets inside companies, giving employees in HR, Sales, and Operations unprecedented software superpowers.
Today we're leveling up with Airtable & Excel support, enhancements to Glide Pages, new team plans to unleash the genius of any organization, and Benchmark as our partner.
